Mr. Kulwin has been trying cases in federal and state courts throughout the United States in civil and criminal matters for the past thirty five years.
He is an Illinois “Super Lawyer” and he has represented Fortune 500 and other multi-national companies, including Hartmarx, Shintom America, U.S.A., and Motorola, Inc., in breach of contract, fraud and commercial litigation matters.
Mr. Kulwin has obtained multi-million dollar jury verdicts in employment, civil rights and other civil matters.

Over the past 35 years, Mr. Kulwin has litigated and tried several complex civil and criminal matters, including over fifty cases in federal and state courts, and before various administrative tribunals and agencies. Mr. Kulwin has represented clients on both sides of these cases, representing plaintiffs and defendants.
In 2007, Mr. Kulwin was selected by Chicago Magazine’s Super Lawyer Section as a top attorney in Illinois, a distinction given to no more than 5% of the attorneys in the state.
Mr. Kulwin’s cases have been profiled in major newspapers and magazines across the country, including the New York Times, 60 Minutes, CNN, USA Today, the Huffington Post, Crain’s Chicago Business, The New Yorker, The American Lawyer, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, CBS-Chicago, ABC-Chicago, NBC-Chicago, and Fox News-Chicago.
Since 1983, Mr. Kulwin has been a member of the United States Federal Defender Panel of Attorneys and has represented indigent defendants in federal criminal cases and trials.
Mr. Kulwin has served on committees of the American and Chicago Bar Associations, including the CBA’s Defense of Prisoners’ Committee and the ABA’s Litigation Section’s Committee on Complex Crimes.
Mr. Kulwin has also taught courses in trial advocacy for the Chicago Bar Association and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. He also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law teaching trial advocacy at the John Marshall School of Law, and for the DePaul University School of Law where he also served as the Faculty Advisor/Coach of DePaul’s Trial Advocacy Team.
Mr. Kulwin has been asked to speak publicly on subjects relating to the practice of law, and he has made presentations and written articles on subjects relating to, among others, methods of cross-examination of expert witnesses, computer evidence, and issues that arise in federal criminal cases.
Mr. Kulwin is admitted to practice, and has practiced, in the United States District Court for the following districts: the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois; Southern District of Texas; Western District of Michigan; and Northern District of Indiana. He is also admitted in, and has practiced before, the United States Tax Court.
Mr. Kulwin is admitted to practice and has practiced in the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Seventh Circuits; Illinois Supreme Court; and Illinois Appellate Courts, including the First District.
Mr. Kulwin has also practiced before various other tribunals and administrative agencies, including the Commodities Futures Trading Commission; Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; Illinois Human Rights Commission; National Association of Securities Dealers; Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission; and the United States Merit Systems Protection Board.
